Fortnightly Meetings

Imot, pronounced /im-OTT/, is an Old English word for “meeting”. The canton of Lightwood holds imots usually every second Saturday, alternating with fortnightly archery practice during September-May.

One imot each month is our business meeting, when we get together over lunch and make plans for the group. The second imot is for arts and sciences activities. During winter, archery Saturdays are often replaced with even more A&S. To find out what we’re doing this month, check out our calendar.

The venue for imots is GeCo, the Geeveston Community Centre, 9b School Road Geeveston. We start at 12pm and carry on until about 3. Everyone is welcome, member or not, and medieval garb is not required, although the aggravating insurance rules mean we need to charge non-members $5 each even for plain old meetings.

Imots are a good way to learn about the SCA without having to make a huge commitment in time. Call our Hospitaller, Jan, on 6297-1083 for more information, or just come along.
