After a three-year break, Medieval Mayhem will return to Geeveston in April 2012.
Medieval Mayhem is a day of medieval fun and entertainment hosted by the Geeveston Community Centre (GeCo), with involvement from the local community and groups from Hobart and further afield.
It ran annually for three years until 2009.
The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a medieval and renaissance re-enactment group, has offered to take on the running of the event from 2012 on.
A new SCA group in the Huon Valley, the canton of Lightwood, is resurrecting the popular event with guidance from GeCo. They would like to hear expressions of interest from the community, especially from local businesses with goods and services that fit the medieval theme.
Past Medieval Mayhems have included demonstrations of sword fighting, renaissance music and dancing, archery, an infamous catapult and salmon hurling competition.
Medievally themed food and drink kept the visitors happy.
Those who don’t behave may find themselves in for a brief stint in the stocks.
Those wishing to join the local chapter can contact Eric in the canton of Lightwood on 6297-9959, or by email on mayhem@geeveston.net.
