St Canog’s Eve Feast – 6th October

According to legend, none may lie in the presence of the relics of the martyr Saint Canog ap Brychan. It’s definitely no lie that a Lightwood feast is the best way to spend a chilly October evening! Come along and bring a dish to share. Wear your warm garb and bring feasting gear. Any problems with any of that? Contact the Steward. The feast is $5 per person, plus the $5 insurance levy if you’re not a member. Invite your friends!

The Feast of St Genesius – 25th August

The Canton will be holding a potluck feast at the Geeveston Community Hall, Brady St, from 6pm on Saturday August 25th.

Saint Genesius is the patron saint of actors, clowns, comedians, comics… and lawyers! Who better to inspire a pot-luck feast in Lightwood? Come along, bring garb and feasting gear plus a dish to share. While you’re at it, why not come up with a suitably medieval joke or riddle in honour of the day: a prize may or may not be given for a particularly impressive example. A paltry $5 will get you in the door (plus the compulsory $5 non-member insurance levy, if applicable). Need help with any of the details? Contact the Steward, Karl Faustus von Aachen.

Are you new and want to know more about how to attend a pot-luck feast? You can read this blog post. Although it refers to a specific event from a few years back and some of the details aren’t relevant to this venue, it will still give you a good overview. If you need to borrow garb for the event, talk to the steward and he will point you in the right direction.

If you can’t make the 25th of August, there is another pot-luck happening on October 6th. More details will be posted closer to the event, but add the date to your diary now!

November dates: Canton Day and 6th Birthday picnic

Lots happening in the Canton in November! Canton Day is Saturday the 4th, and our 6th birthday celebration will be held on Saturday 25th. In between, many of us will also be attending the Kingdom of Lochac’s November Crown Tournament, which is being hosted by the Barony of Ynys Fawr in the lands of our fair Canton, on 11-12 November.

Canton Day

For a bit of a change, and because we’re also holding an archery picnic later in the month, Canton Day this month will be a garbed potluck picnic on the Franklin Foreshore. 11:30-1:30, newcomers very welcome. You don’t need to wear garb to come along and chat about what we do, but if you want to borrow something please contact our Hospitaller, Lady Morwenna de Bonnay (Jan) on email or (03) 6297 1083.

Lightwood’s Sixth Birthday

Come and join us on November 25 from 10am-3pm, as we celebrate our sixth birthday on Surges Bay Oval, Esperance Coast Road, Surges Bay. There will be an archery tournament, a boffer tournament and potluck picnic lunch. There will be cake! Cost is $5 + $5 for non-members insurance. Steward of the event is Lady Mariot de Bonnay (Dayle).

This is a garbed event: if you need to borrow something please contact our Hospitaller (details above).

We hope to see you there!
